Health and Safety Area Manager – €70k plus

Dublin, Full Time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Manager for our client in the catering sector based in Dublin.

Salary: €65-70k plus bonus

Hours: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all catering operations are compliant with local, regional, and national health and safety regulations, including food safety laws, fire safety, and workplace safety standards.

  • Risk Assessments & Audits: Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks in kitchen, dining, and storage areas.

  • Training & Development: Deliver health and safety training to staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to follow safety protocols, use equipment safely, and respond to emergencies. Maintain records of all training sessions.

  • Safety Culture Promotion: Develop and promote a safety-conscious culture across all levels of the catering teams. Encourage the reporting of hazards and near-miss incidents to ensure continuous safety improvements.

  • Food Safety Oversight: Collaborate with catering managers to ensure food safety practices, including hygiene, handling, storage, and preparation, meet industry standards and legal requirements.

  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for local regulatory bodies during inspections or audits. Ensure any required documentation is prepared and up-to-date.

  • Policy Implementation: Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with industry best practices.

  • Emergency Response: Create, review, and enforce emergency response plans (e.g., fire evacuation, first-aid procedures, etc.) and ensure staff are trained to respond effectively in emergency situations.

  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report on key health and safety metrics, including accident frequency rates and compliance with safety protocols, and report findings to senior management.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in health and safety management within the catering or hospitality sector

  • Chartered member of IOSH would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, food safety standards (HACCP), and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and train staff at all levels. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
