Junior Sous Chef
Salary: €38-42k
Location: Westmeath
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily supervision of kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts.
- Lead sections of the kitchen, ensuring food preparation, presentation, and portion control meet quality standards.
- Support menu planning and development, contributing ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, acting as a mentor and promoting a collaborative team culture.
- Manage stock rotation and inventory control, minimizing waste and ensuring freshness of ingredients.
- Step up in the absence of the Sous Chef or Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations.
Candidate:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
- Previous experience as a Senior Chef de Partie or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of modern culinary techniques and food safety standards.
- Leadership abilities with excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Passionate about food, quality, and customer experience.
- Formal culinary training or relevant certifications preferred.
