General Bar Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and manage bar staff, bartenders, and servers. Ensure that all team members are knowledgeable about both the drink and food menus.
- Hire new employees, conduct interviews, and onboard staff.
- Create and manage work schedules to ensure adequate staffing during peak times and maintain labor cost control.
- Foster a positive working environment and provide ongoing training opportunities to improve staff performance and knowledge.
- Manage inventory of alcoholic beverages, mixers, garnishes, and other bar supplies. Ensure proper stock levels to meet demand and reduce waste.
- Order supplies and beverages as needed and maintain good relationships with Monitor and control costs, including managing the beverage cost percentage and maintaining profitability.
- Ensure that the bar complies with health, safety, and liquor laws, including obtaining necessary permits and certifications.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of drinks and cocktails to meet the quality standards set by the gastrobar. Ensure that drinks are consistent, creative, and meet customer expectations.
- Oversee customer service at the bar, interacting with guests to ensure satisfaction with drinks and service. Handle customer complaints or issues professionally.
- Maintain a welcoming and engaging atmosphere in the bar. Monitor the music, lighting, and overall environment to create the right vibe for the establishment.
- Encourage upselling and suggest pairings between drinks and food. Develop promotional ideas to increase sales and attract new customers.
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to create new food and drink pairings that enhance the gastrobar experience.
- Work with the head chef or kitchen manager to help develop the food and drink menu, ensuring a cohesive offering that complements both the beverage and food offerings of the gastrobar.
- Plan and oversee special events (e.g., tastings, themed nights, promotions) that feature food and drink pairings or unique offerings.
- Monitor daily sales and financial performance, and prepare regular reports for the ownership or senior management.
- Set competitive pricing for drinks and food, taking into consideration cost margins and local market trends.
- Ensure that the gastrobar adheres to all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
- Ensure that the team is trained in safe alcohol service, including how to handle intoxicated customers responsibly.
- Help maintain the gastrobar’s brand image through effective use of social media, events, and promotions. Engage with customers online to promote special events and new menu items.
- Organize and oversee events like happy hours, tastings, live music nights, or holiday specials that draw in customers.
- Resolve operational problems, customer complaints, or staffing challenges as they arise to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning
- Be prepared to act swiftly in case of emergencies such as accidents, injuries, or safety incidents.
- Implement systems for reducing waste, including optimizing drink preparation, minimizing food waste, and recycling.
- Ensure that the gastrobar uses sustainable practices when sourcing ingredients, handling waste, or promoting eco-friendly products.
